Because I live in California, I can sit outside on January 1st and enjoy the warm sun on my face and feel a slight refreshing breeze. I reflect that even when I can’t feel the sun, it is still as bright and warm. When storm clouds obstruct it, it blazes behind those clouds just as much as when I can feel it. I examine the trees around me in Winter and think about how their leafless branches hold tiny buds, waiting patiently for warmer weather and Spring to bloom. They sleep knowing that the seasons will change and the sun will awaken their joyous growth again.
So, Christians should realize that God is just as glorious and majestic when life’s circumstances hide his face from us. He has not changed. Only our circumstances have. He allows challenging times to prepare us for what will come next. Seasons of joy and productivity will come again, as He has designed and purposefully planned. Wait patiently, with expectation, remembering that He is loving, forgiving, and compassionate. So much that He died for us.
Ecclesiastes 3:1, (NLT) For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.
If we don’t change, we don’t grow. If we don’t grow, we aren’t really living. ~ Gail Sheehy ~
