Ways to Reflect the Color of God’s Love in a World of Grays

As the colors of a diamond are best revealed against black velvet, so the majesty of God’s love stands out in a world of darkness.

When Jesus was on earth, He stood out because He lived and taught in a way that contrasted with the culture of society of his time. As Christ followers, filled with his spirit, we are to shine brightly within our culture.

How can we show the sparkle of God’s love better?

1.   Remain Authentic & Truthful

An honest authentic person is true to themselves and gives truthful feedback to others.  It doesn’t mean saying everything that comes to mind, but only what will edify. Christ has already determined your value - now you're free from seeking approval. Speak the truth with love.

1 Samuel 16:7b, “…People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

Ephesians 4:25, “Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another.”

2.   Settle in with Jesus

The more we spend time with him, the more he shines through us.

Matthew 6:33, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

3.   Stay in the Bible

The way to see if something is true and is a good reflection of God is to see if it lines up with the word of God.

1Peter 2:21, “To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.”

James 1:22-24, “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says..”

4.   Abide in Grace

Try to see people through the filter of God’s grace.

Ephesians 4:32, “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”

5.   Reside in who God created you to be.

He had a plan for you when he created you. Your greatest potential lies in fulfilling your purpose in Christ.

1 Peter 2:9, “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”(NIV, emphasis added)

Darkness cannot snuff out the magnificent beauty and light of God’s love.  His love is the most powerful force in the universe.  Sparkle for him!
